Day 4 Tunxi Huangshan

After breakfast, we travel by coach to the gondola station at the foot of Mt Huangshan. The Huangshan pines mostly grow in places more than 800 meters above sea level, because of the geographical condition and the climate, the sturdy pines stand tall and straight. Huangshan has luxuriant trees and peaks rising one upon another. The still sea of snow-white clouds can suddenly begin to roll and toss while sky-touching peaks emerge and disappear in the clouds now and again. Huangshan is the supreme example of Chinese Mountain scenery and prime model for classical landscape paintings, as the poets and painters of old China amply testify. Huangshan consists of 72 peaks, at least 77 of these stone pillars, formed 100 million years ago, exceed 3,200 feet elevation. You will be brought to tour 2 major Scenic Zones, Beihai and Xihai.

Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the famous Yangtze River Bridge, one of the great achievements of the communists, and it is the longest bridges in China, a double-decker with a 4500m-long road on top and a railway line below. The next visit is Zhonghua Gate (Zhonghuamen), the gate consists of four large archways, each with a double door and a 1000kg gate that used to shut automatically, trapping retreating enemy soldiers within the city. The observation platform at the top provides the closet thing there is to a bird’s eye view of Nanjing. The Qinhuai River, an important branch of the Yangtze River on the lower reaches, is divided into Inner and Outer Qinhuai rivers. The Outer Qinhuai River is the moat of the city which runs around the city and empties into the Yangtze River. The Inner Qinhuai River enters Nanjing from East Water Pass and runs out of the city from West Water Pass, totaling 5 kilometers long and hence the name 'Ten Li Qinhuai River'.
